• Burnout #1: Idea #217

We’ve come through the first half of 2023, and globally we’ve continued to see life challenges in various areas. For me, this means I need to be careful to not burnout, to remain energized. To help us, here are ‘6 Habits to avoid burnout. Burnout is more common than ever before. Why? Because we say yes to everything (and never have enough time for the really important things). 1. Make ‘no’ your default… Just because an opportunity arises does not mean you should say yes. Be absurdly protective of your time. 2. Create (and maintain) boundaries… If you don’t respect your boundaries, no one else will either.’ (J.Bonacolta) – more tomorrow.

  • Fun: Idea #216

Sometimes we hold off on implementing new habits because we’re afraid it will be too hard. Suggestion – ‘Make your habits fun. This doesn’t mean each habit will be the most fun thing in your life, but nearly any habit can be made more fun than it is currently. Ask yourself, “What would it look like if this was fun? What would it look like if meditation or exercise or writing – or whatever – was fun? Find the most enjoyable version of each habit you do.’ (J.Clear) How can you make a new habit fun and exciting? Reframe the action and go for it!

  • Priorities: Idea #215

How do you manage your priorities? ‘You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage pleasantly, smilingly, and non-apologetically – to say “no” to other things. And the way to do that is by having a bigger “yes” burning inside.’ (S.Covey) There may always be conflicting priorities, and that can lead to procrastination. To prevent that, ‘Always take massive, imperfect action towards your goals because the time might never be just right.’ (D.Y.Ndim) Let’s make a move today towards our top priority.
