• Action: Idea #99

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions this year? ‘Good intentions need to be turned into good actions. In order to get the best that life has for you, you need to be purposeful, willful, and focused. If you don’t prepare your life, you will spend your time repairing – by preparing your day and life, you will live intentionally.’ (J.Maxwell) Resolutions won’t stick unless you plan actions to support them. One of my goals this year is to support my teams to enable them to increase their value to the business. My actions include coaching, capturing opportunities in meetings I attend, and asking for support from my manager. Let’s do this together!

  • Remember: Idea #98

Guilty as charged! What am I talking about? Not remembering people’s names. ‘Take the time to remember the names of the people you meet. The sweetest sound to a person’s ear is the sound of their name – by remembering a person’s name, you tell them that you greatly value them.’ (J.Maxwell) I know I appreciate it (and am sometimes surprised) when people remember my name. One tip is to use their name 2-3 times as quickly as possible after hearing it. This type of connection is valuable in your growing process, as it raises your value in other’s estimation of you. What’s your name again??

  • Excellent: Idea #97

‘If it is worth doing, it is worth doing right. If you don’t do your best, two things can happen—one, you have to go back and do it; and two, if you don’t go back and do it, you are short changing yourself and those you are trying to help. By doing your best and striving for excellence, you will greatly exceed all of your expectations.’ (J.Maxwell) This concept was drilled into me by my Dad, always expecting any work to be done correctly the first time, even if the work wouldn’t be seen by many people. Along life’s pathway, one of my personal goals has been to always be excellent, to excel where I can. Having this mindset will ensure that you grow and improve every day. What’s the one thing you know you can do better this week?
