• Delight: Idea #47

    How would you like to live a better life? Perhaps you can try ‘DOS (Delight Operating System)’ (A.Liran) This is an approach to life where there is an intentional effort to delight others, those you interact with wherever you might find yourself. An effort to make others feel important in whatever role they find themselves. From a medical point of view, this action also releases the hormones that make us feel happy and rewarded. And who wouldn’t like that? So for a better life, avoid JOS (Jerk Operating System) and choose DOS. I choose DOS, what will you choose?

  • Potential: Idea #46

    When I interview people for a role, I try to uncover their potential. So then, what is YOUR potential? Two things to know about potential: ‘1. None of us ever reach our maximum potential, we always come a little short. 2. Unless you are intentional about making more use of your potential you will never develop that muscle that will allow you to succeed.’ (J.Maxwell) So we need to intentionally stretch ourselves and take measured risks, as this allows us to grow our potential. It needs to be an action, something we do, as good intentions alone won’t deliver. So for today, think about what you could become, then take the steps needed to get there.

  • Planning: Idea #45

    Have you ever stopped to think about how you spend your day? ‘How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. What we do with this hour, and that one, is what we are doing. A schedule defends from chaos and whim. It is a net for catching days.’ (A.Dillard) The little things you do today, and the small choices you make regularly, will eventually go on to define you, your successes, your impact on people and your community, and most importantly, how you see yourself. Too many times I catch myself just drifting through the day, not really thinking about what I’m trying to accomplish, or what my goals for the day look like. They don’t need to be big targets, however, if you have no target you’ll just drift, generally downhill. Today, think about how you’re spending the day.
