• Self-talk 3: Idea #66

The first tool you can use to change how you think is the ‘Replacement Principle: Remove the lies, replace with the truth….use it regularly to change your mind and your life.’ (C.Groeschel) Perhaps you’re not aware of the lies you’re telling yourself, or you’re not sure of what truth you SHOULD be telling yourself. One idea would be to look at what’s happening in your life, is it what you want it to be, or hope to be? If not, quite possibly you have some lies about yourself that need to be replaced with a truth. Talk with a trusted friend, ask them what you might be telling yourself that’s taking you to an outcome you don’t want. Your challenge for the day is to review how you think about yourself, what you say, and see what needs replacing.

  • Love: Idea #65

‘Mother Teresa once said: “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” What a wonderful mantra for our day, week…if we take the time to be a little more patient and kind, we spread love.’ (C.Elton) I know I feel very grateful when others are patient and kind when I make a mistake, how about you? If everyone followed Mother Teresa’s advice, and we all helped those we encounter leave feeling happier, imagine how much more pleasant this world would be. Who will you help feel happier today?

  • Thinking: Idea #64

‘Our lives are always moving in the direction of our strongest thoughts. What we think shapes who we are….many problems…are rooted in faulty and negative patterns of thinking.’ (C.Groeschel) Current science (cognitive behavioral therapy) tells us that many problems people deal with (such as addictions, anxiety, relational challenges), whether personally or professionally, are the outcomes of faulty or negative thinking. So you need to ask yourself the question, “Do you like where your thoughts are taking you?” If not, what pattern of thinking will you start changing today? Who can you ask for help in changing your way of thinking?
