• Trusting: Idea #289

The flip side to having trust is ‘Trusting – a very powerful leadership principle. The definition of trusting is to show confidence in someone. Three things to think about if you want to be more trusting and show confidence in the people you lead are …1. Give others clarity: Without clarity there is cruelty. Be clear on what success looks like, and what the expectations are. 2. Show empowerment: What is the worst thing that can happen here, and can you live with it? Let others make mistakes they will learn from. 3. Always ask questions: Don’t give all the answers. You will be a better servant leader if you learn to trust and put confidence in the people you lead.’ (J.Maxwell) This is hard at times for me, but when I trust others it usually pays off.

  • Attitude: Idea #288

When the future is unknown, and circumstances aren’t always so nice, it’s important to remember that ‘Attitude is everything. It is important to have a great attitude about yourself, other people, and life. It isn’t what happens to you, but what happens in you. If you can find the bright side of things in tough situations, keeping a positive attitude, you will be capable of happiness in any circumstance.’ (J.Maxwell) Are you choosing to have a positive attitude when times are tough? • Books: Idea #287

‘Books hold most of the secrets of the world, most of the thoughts that men and women have had. And when you are reading a book, you and the author are alone together – just the two of you. A library is a good place to go when you feel unhappy, for there, in a book, you may find encouragement and comfort. A library is a good place to go when you feel bewildered or undecided, for there, in a book, you may have your question answered. Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people—people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.’ (E.B.White) What book have you read lately that’s helping you grow?
