Repentance: God Idea #18

Repentance is a hard word to hear because it means change, and change is hard. And sometimes we don’t really want to change, we’re enjoying the temporary pleasure of what we need to repent of. So how can we tell if there’s been true repentance? Have you ever heard a child say “I’m sorry”, and could hear they didn’t really mean it? So how can we know if repentance is genuine? The answer is by the outcome, the fruit of our lives. What do others see when they look at us? A change? Or the same old, same old? It’s easy for me to say I’m sorry, much harder to really repent and change my direction. (Matt 3:8)
