Are you an expert? Would you like to be known as one? Who wouldn’t, but please do be aware that being an expert can bring its own challenges. How, you might ask? Well, sometimes there’s a tendency for “experts” to have such a narrow, focused view on things they can’t “see the forest for the trees”. That is, they forget about the context and only see a small part of the picture. If you are an expert, and are still able to step back and look at the big picture, you’ll be a successful leader. However, if you are too focused as an expert, you won’t see the overall landscape as a leader – which will lead to incorrect decisions.
