I’ve long thought of myself as a servant leader, and I still lean in that direction. However, I recently came across some training that highlighted the need to be a situational leader (including being a servant leader). So what’s situational leader? My understanding is that there are situations in a leader’s life where different modes of leading are needed. Sometimes it might be authoritative, sometimes consultative, and it might even be where you delegate everything and let others make the decisions. I still believe that having a core of servant leadership is good, but include other modes as needed.
