One thing that most of us crave is security. Knowing that life is certain and we’ll be taken care of in good shape. And one of the ways we try to arrange that is through saving up financially for our future. We believe that if we save enough, have sufficient provisions stored away, we’ll be secure in the future. As illustrated in the story of the rich farmer, life doesn’t always work that way, as we don’t know what the future holds – only God knows the future. And so, if we learn to depend on God for our provision, we can be unselfish with what we are currently blessed with, and always be generous. (1 Timothy 6:17-18)
