A story-telling leader has a much higher chance of getting support from their team, their friends, or even their manager. So what does it mean to tell a story? First of all, even though you may use yourself as a character in the story (not required but powerful), the purpose or focus of the story needs to be on your audience. I’ve found that using myself as an example makes my point much better than just presenting data, or requests. So think about what you’ve done successfully, or the lessons you’ve learned, and the challenges you’ve conquered – and use those stories to influence others.
