When all is going well it’s easy to serve others, and we get great satisfaction from whatever we’re doing. However, the real test of our attitude towards serving is when things aren’t going so well. How do we feel about serving others when “everything has gone wrong” for us in the previous hours or days? What are our thoughts about serving when we’ve been faithful in service, but others get noticed and praised? Does that kill our enjoyment of serving? When I think of how Jesus served his disciples (and the crowds), I’m challenged to stop thinking only of myself, and start serving others. (Luke 22:25-27)
