Let’s think about why trust is so important for a leader. As a leader, you need a team that works well together, that can look at differing viewpoints without argument, and find the best outcomes while working together. This only happens with trust. A team will not trust each other if they can’t trust their leader. Going on from that, people need to be able to have difficult conversations about differences without fear of blame, misunderstanding, or worse. Again, trust is a factor in having the ability to do this. In my opinion, being a great leader has to start with trust – more on that next time.
