In today’s hybrid working environment where great infrastructure allows us to work from almost anywhere, why should we meet up with others “face to face”? Why should we take the time to dress up a bit more, spend time commuting, and risk getting less done due to interruptions while working? My reason to do so is because I’m a human, and humans are designed to relate, and develop relationships with others. It’s well known that many times a good relationship is more important than the best price, the fastest service, the latest product, etc. When you have a good relationship with your teammates, you’ll be more flexible with their needs, you’ll have more understanding of their communications, you’ll have more empathy for their struggles – and the result is a larger outcome due to the synergy that’s possible when face to face.
