My name is Harley, and I consider myself an international citizen, having lived in the USA, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia. Since I was young I’ve always had a bit of a competitive nature, wanting to be “the best” in whatever I was doing. As I’ve matured and grown as a person, I’ve come to realize that being the best is not the best goal, however, being excellent in all I do certainly is. Along the pathway of my life I’ve had many jobs and occupations, working in sales, service, and training industries, and now in a role focused on operations. As a part of being excellent, I studied (with active practice) and achieved a Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, which is essentially working on processes to make them more efficient, faster, better, etc. However, what I discovered in that program was that I also enjoy helping others develop and grow as people and as leaders. This has brought me to a point where I know what it is that brings me great satisfaction: “To make things work better through developing people.” As a leader I’ve had the privilege of looking after and supporting teams locally, regionally (SEANAP), and internationally (MX, UA, MY, IN, NZ, SG, +), and as a part of that, I’ve tried to be excellent in helping my managers become great leaders. I’ve done this through training sessions, sharing of good ideas, lessons learned from workshops I’ve attended, and now – from my Simple Ideas blog posts. My hope is that by sharing my experiences, my lessons learned, and my ideas of what makes great leaders, these Simple Ideas will help you grow and develop as a person and as a leader.
