• Generations: Idea #84

‘There are four to five generations in the workplace today, each with their own strengths. We need to put in the work to build bridges between our generations, instead of walls.’ (J.Maxwell) I’m not sure how it is for you, however sometimes it feels like I can’t understand why others think (or don’t think) like I do. Many times I forget that I’m in the 4th or 5th generation with a bit more experience in my life, and I should be sharing that knowledge with other generations rather than criticizing them. What are you doing to build connections with those outside of your generation?

  • Patience: Idea #83

‘Patience is a virtue. Throughout much of childhood, our parents and guardians instilled in us to be patient… (and) Having patience is an important characteristic in everyday life,…(however) too often…the concept of patience becomes a hands-off mechanism used to fight discomfort in facing change…this behavior is known as “wait and see”.’ (D.Burrus) So as we practice patience in how we interact with others, let’s also make sure we’re not procrastinating with a “wait and see” attitude, let’s be bold in our decisions that will have big impacts. What have you been waiting for that needs action now?

  • Curious: Idea #82

‘When was the last time you asked a question or wanted to know something you didn’t know? A curious mind is an expansive mind, which becomes a fertile mind. Stay curious, it’ll keep you young.’ (J.Maxwell) One trap to watch out for in this area, at least for me, is to ensure I don’t spend my “curiosity time” looking into topics that don’t add value to my life. I do like to learn about new things, and I encourage each of you to not think you already know all you need to know. Instead, set aside time to learn about something new that will benefit your life. What will you ask about today?
