You probably haven’t thought about what you need to give up in order to have more, in order to grow and improve. It’s much easier to go along if we can forget about ‘the law of tradeoffs. It says that we have to give up to go up. In order to go higher, you have to go lighter and tradeoff for things that are more important. You will grow out of things, and while it may be harder to give things up as you continue higher in your journey, it is worth the tradeoff!’ (J.Maxwell) I know that in every-day life I tend to hoard things, to want to keep things – just in case…However, what we have are limited resources, we have limited time, so we need to be clear about what is most important, and what we need to give up in order to succeed.

Bored: Idea #559
Do you ever get bored? Generally I don’t have that problem as I have too many interests. But it can happen sometimes, can’t it? ‘Are you bored with life? Then throw yourself into some work you believe in with all your heart, live for it, die for it, and you will find happiness that you had thought could never be yours.’ (D.Carnegie) Throwing oneself into something indicates a whole-hearted commitment, no holding back. ‘Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.’ (L.Holtz) You know what you can do, the question is, how well will you do it?

Design: Idea #558
Have you ever seen a building that was built without using a blueprint, a plan? If you did, I bet it came with a fair number of imperfections. That’s also why we need a plan for our personal growth, which is known as ‘the law of design. It says that to maximize growth, you must develop strategies. Hope is not a strategy; you need something specific that you want to accomplish in order to grow and develop. A strategy will help you get from where you are to where you want to go.’ (J.Maxwell) It’s just not good enough to go along each day and hope that what you’re doing will help you improve. A well designed plan will take you so much further in your growth journey.
