• Travel: Idea #539

Do you like to travel? Have you ever been on a trip and something unexpected has happened? Sometimes those things are wonderful, and sometimes not so good. However, in all of them, there are lessons we learn. ‘There is meaning in every journey that is unknown to the traveler.’ (D.Bonhaeffer) Life is also like that, and we should be learning those lessons along the way. WE may not always understand the lessons immediately, just remember, ‘Your limitations should be your guidelines, and not stop signs. They should direct and guide your path on the journey, not prevent you from taking it.’ (R.Schuller) Let’s go traveling!

  • Contribution: Idea #538

Over the next several weeks I’ll be sharing some of John Maxwell’s Laws that will help us continue to grow and improve. Starting with ‘the law of contribution. It says that growing yourself enables you to grow others. When you live the law of contribution and significance you add value to others. They get better and you become fulfilled.’ (J.Maxwell) If you start feeling tired and wonder if the effort of developing yourself is worth it, remember, it’s not just for yourself. Growing yourself also benefits all those you work with, those you hang out with, those people that depend on you. So yes, it’s worth it!

  • Progress: Idea #537

I recently spent some personal time in Indonesia, and we had opportunities to both travel on very interesting roads & do some mountain hiking. In both situations, there were times when it felt as if the way up was never ending, with bumps & turns along the way, and both our bodies & our vehicle straining to move forward to the next step or curve. And sometimes it felt like we were not making any progress at all, that the road ahead was never ending. I know that in every-day life, with the challenges that come along, sometimes we might feel the same. You may think that there’s no end in sight, there’s no reward for the effort you’re expending right now – but let me remind you – there is something better at the end. And as I looked backwards, I could see the progress I’d already made. Each step, each meter of progress was moving me in the right direction to the goal I wanted to achieve. So it is too with our daily life, if you keep taking a step forward, when you look back you’ll see how much progress you’ve already made. Don’t give up!
