• Purpose-in-Life: Idea #535

Idea #104 ‘Having a “purpose-in-life” (the technical term) has been shown to lower incidences of stroke, dementia, and cardiovascular disease. Additionally, from a performance standpoint, purpose boosts motivation, productivity, resilience, and focus….Purpose shifts our attention off ourselves (internal focus) and puts it onto other people and the task at hand (external focus).’ (S.Kotler) As you think about what you want to achieve this year, don’t just think about goals or resolutions, think about your purpose in life, what you want to achieve – then go for it!

  • Fear: Idea #534

Have you ever let fear keep you from trying something? ‘Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.’ (E.Nightingale) In simple words, stop procrastinating! Also, ‘Don’t let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning.’ (R.Kiyosaki) I think both of these quotes fit together well. If you never risk anything, your reward will continue to be small. I want bigger rewards. Join me in pushing through fear.

  • Disagree: Idea #533

Do you ever disagree with those you respect? ‘Great leaders are able to partner with people they disagree with… There is a significant difference between believing the other side’s ideas are wrong and believing the other side’s motives are wrong. Disagreeing in a partnership is not a problem, but can be a strength if you learn how to work together. Leveraging differences as strengths in a partnership can strengthen you, your team, and your perspective.’ (J.Maxwell) It’s so important to differentiate between ideas and motives, as without that it’s difficult to disagree agreeably.
