• Disagree: Idea #533

Do you ever disagree with those you respect? ‘Great leaders are able to partner with people they disagree with… There is a significant difference between believing the other side’s ideas are wrong and believing the other side’s motives are wrong. Disagreeing in a partnership is not a problem, but can be a strength if you learn how to work together. Leveraging differences as strengths in a partnership can strengthen you, your team, and your perspective.’ (J.Maxwell) It’s so important to differentiate between ideas and motives, as without that it’s difficult to disagree agreeably.

  • Moving: Idea #532

Here’s a question I often ask myself – Am I moving in the right direction with my life? I shouldn’t be looking at where I am, instead I need to focus on where I’m headed. ‘The great thing in this world is not so much where you stand, as in what direction you are moving.’ (O.Holmes) Sometimes it’s easy to look around us, look at where other people are, or what they’re doing, and begin comparing ourselves. What we usually don’t know is what direction others are traveling. Where are they headed? For success, or disaster? We don’t know. What we can know is the direction we’re traveling, so ask yourself – where am I headed today?

  • Know: Idea #531

Hopefully you already know that we become like the people we hang out with. So ‘Connect with like minded people. Doing this can accelerate your personal and professional growth, providing support, inspiration, and opportunities for collaboration. Leaders must actively seek and nurture these relationships and should also ask this question: “Who do you know that I should know?”’ (J.Maxwell) Yes, it might be difficult to change who you spend the most time with, however it pays off significantly.
