• Imagination: Idea #81

Are you a person with imagination? ‘Imagination allows people to see themselves not only as they are, but as they imagine themselves to be. Imagination, paired with determination, allows you to reach your dreams.’ (J.Maxwell) I enjoy a good “hard” science fiction book or movie, as it allows me to imagine what the future might hold, what it might look like. We need to do the same for ourselves, and allow ourselves to imagine what we could do, what we could become, and what we could accomplish. Of course, if there are no follow-up actions it remains a dream, however, you CAN achieve those dreams if you put plans and actions into place. What are you imagining for yourself today?

  • Pay It Forward: Idea #80

“Pay it forward” is the subject of a movie (from 2000) that highlights the positive things that can happen when you “pay it forward”. Here’s a personal example I’ve done a number of times: when going through a fast-food drive-through (like McDonalds), when I get to the window to pay for my order I also ask to pay for the car behind me (no idea who they are or what they’re buying). The thrill of doing that is awesome, and hopefully this will inspire them (and others) to do similar acts of kindness in paying it forward. In the movie, the acts of kindness come full circle as actions are rewarded in the end. What might you do today in “paying it forward” that helps you develop as a kinder person?

  • Intuition: Idea #79

Have you recently felt like decisions are solely based on data, and it feels cold and impersonal? There’s a recent book that touches on that question, and it argues that intuition should also play a part in making decisions – the “human” factor. The terminology coined is “Quantitative Intuition – QI”, and it combines data with good judgment. So as you look at the challenges you’re facing, the changes you want to implement, and the growth you want to achieve – perhaps you can add QI to your decision-making process to get the best outcome for yourself. Trust your intuition!
