• Planning: Idea #45

    Have you ever stopped to think about how you spend your day? ‘How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives. What we do with this hour, and that one, is what we are doing. A schedule defends from chaos and whim. It is a net for catching days.’ (A.Dillard) The little things you do today, and the small choices you make regularly, will eventually go on to define you, your successes, your impact on people and your community, and most importantly, how you see yourself. Too many times I catch myself just drifting through the day, not really thinking about what I’m trying to accomplish, or what my goals for the day look like. They don’t need to be big targets, however, if you have no target you’ll just drift, generally downhill. Today, think about how you’re spending the day.

  • Failure: Idea #44

    What’s the balance between success and failure? Success is great, and it builds confidence in our abilities. However, ‘1 or 2 times out of 10, you should be failing. Push yourself and reach beyond your current grasp. Force yourself to try uncomfortable things. Occasionally you will surprise yourself and the rest of the time you will learn.’ (J.Clear) No one likes failures, however without failures we never find out what our true capabilities are, what we “could” do. Failures are not bad as long as we keep learning. What risk of failure will you try next? I know I need to think about this!

  • Choice: Idea #43

    ‘”Whatever choice you make today, determines where you are going to be tomorrow” – Coach Wooden. We are faced with so many choices daily, and every choice you make in turn makes YOU.’ (J.Maxwell) Sometimes we find ourselves making choices without really thinking about it – what to have for lunch, which TV program to watch, etc. However there are some choices that may be more impactful that we should think about. Even things like should I watch TV or should I learn about how to be a better leader? Most importantly, whenever we need to make a choice that can impact our future we need to stop, think, consider, and make sure our choice is taking us in the right direction.
