• Process: Idea #387

It’s worthwhile to consider why you want to grow as an individual. We should ‘Climb the mountain so you can see the world, not so the world can see you.’ (U) Our reason for growing and developing as an individual should focus on our own betterment, not on gaining recognition. ‘Most people who want to get ahead do it backward. They think, “I’ll get a bigger job, then I’ll learn how to be a leader.” But showing leadership skills is how you get the bigger job in the first place. Leadership isn’t a position; it’s a process.’ (J.Maxwell) Are you focusing on the right things?

  • YES: Idea #386

If you think you don’t have time to focus on growing and developing because there’s too much happening that takes your time, remember that ‘Opportunity often comes disguised in the form of misfortune, or temporary defeat.’ (N.Hill) Many times in such situations we need to be careful where we spend our time. ‘Saying NO frees you up to say YES when it matters most.’ (A.Grant) As we avoid getting trapped in “business as usual”, we’ll find that we have enough time to say YES to the opportunities that pop up.

  • Thoughts: Idea #385

Making progress seems to reflect how we think. ‘What thoughts are you nurturing the most in your mind? Are those thoughts helping and serving you in the direction you want to go? Today is an opportunity for you to pre-decide the thoughts you are going to nurture. When you nurture healthy thoughts, it will lead you in a positive direction.’ (J.Maxwell) I know I need to stop, and take time to ponder, to think, to meditate, on what I want to carry around in my head, what I want to spend my time thinking about. What will you think about today?
