• Pain: Idea #548

If there’s one law I wish I could avoid, it’s ‘the law of pain. It says that good management of bad experiences leads to great growth. In growth, there is a lot of struggle. We all experience challenges and adversity, but our pain can allow us to grow. We learn to adjust and ask for help in the uphill journey. Your mindset is a choice. Make the decision to learn from your pain, and allow it to make you a better person.’ (J.Maxwell) I guess I’ve been around long enough to know there’s no way to avoid pain and struggle, so I might as well keep learning from it, and grow to be a better person. What about you?

  • Habits: Idea #547

What I learned as a boy is ‘The law of the harvest is to reap more than you sow. Sow an act, you reap a habit. Sow a habit and you reap a character. Sow a character and you reap a destiny.’ (J.Allen) So what we want to sow in our life needs to be good seeds. If we plant bad habits, we won’t harvest the success we want. ‘Fear is a habit; so is self-pity, defeat, anxiety, despair, hopelessness and resignation. You can eliminate all of these negative habits with two simple resolves: “I can” and “I will”.’ (M) Let’s start planting “I can” and “I will” seeds from here on out.

  • Stretch: Idea #546

Too many times when I think about my personal growth, I imagine “arriving” at the pinnacle of success. However, that way of thinking ignores ‘the law of the rubber band. It says that growth stops when you lose the tension between where you are and where you could be. A rubber band only has value when it is stretched. When we are stretched, we become who we are supposed to be. We improve only when we expand and stretch ourselves.’ (J.Maxwell) Seems like growth is a never-ending process, a journey, not a destination.
