• Tattoo: Idea #574

Do you think you’re the result of your early years in life? ‘Our environment has a huge impact on who we are. We become a product of our environment, particularly the one we grow up in. We are all tattooed in the crib with the beliefs of our tribe. When we are growing up, we soak up not only all the good, but also all the bad of what is going on around us. You aren’t responsible for this baggage that resulted from your childhood environment, but you are responsible for changing your baggage if you want something different in the future.’ (J.Maxwell) Yes, there is an impact, however it is always possible to change for the better. Let’s be determined to do so.

  • Thanksgiving: Idea #573

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the USA and is a tradition I grew up with for many years, and even now I try to celebrate this day with family and friends. I know we should be thankful all the time, however it’s a good reminder when we have a special day to remind us, and to help us think about all the blessings we enjoy. For myself, I’m very grateful for my own family, and all my siblings. I’m thankful for so many friends that encourage me and support me when I face challenges. I’m thankful for relatively good health, and the ability I have to enjoy life and a variety of activities. And most of all, I’m thankful for my faith that enables me to make it through difficult times in life. What are you thankful for today? Gratitude is truly a wonderful attitude. Thank YOU for joining me in this journey of growth and development!

  • 3rd Practice: Idea #572

The final growth practice might seem like a step back, like you’re not really doing anything. However, ‘The third growth practice is to think daily and apply what you have learned. Evaluated experience is the best teacher. Reflection turns experience into insight. After a new experience, ask yourself “What did I love? What did I learn?” and you will grow. Sustained thinkers look for a better, bigger, deeper answer.’ (J.Maxwell) In today’s busy world we seldom take enough time to stop and reflect and think about our experiences. It takes time to ask ourselves “what have I learned”, and then find a way to apply that to future actions.
