• 2nd Practice: Idea #571

The next growth practice sounds easy, but in reality is much harder than it sounds. Simply, ‘The second growth practice is to listen daily to broaden your perspective. It is important for leaders to see through the eyes of other people. Ask your team questions and listen! You don’t learn by talking, only by listening and then asking good questions.’ (J.Maxwell) As leaders that are growing and developing, we want to think we have the answers, we know what’s best. However, that’s not always the case, and if we don’t listen we won’t grow. What would you like to tell me today – I’m listening.

  • 1st Practice: Idea #570

Here are a couple of great growth practices that will help you grow and develop faster in your personal journey. ‘The first growth practice is to read daily so you can grow your personal life. Are you growing every day? It depends on what you read. Read in the areas that will build you and make you a better, stronger person. What kind of books do you read?’ (J.Maxwell) I know, maybe you don’t enjoy reading, so what about an audio book you can listen to? However you want to take in growth materials, just make sure you do it.

  • Peaceful: Idea #569

Sometimes I catch myself living in stress, and it shows in my outward reactions – usually not in a good way. One way to reduce stress is to let go of those things that are outside of our control.  ‘Letting go helps us to live in a more peaceful state of mind and helps restore our balance. It allows others to be responsible for themselves and for us to take our hands off situations that do not belong to us. This frees us from unnecessary stress.’ (M.Beattie) So I try to remind myself frequently that if I cannot control something, I also shouldn’t take up the worry about it. Let’s all do this.
