• Anger: Idea #154

If something has ever happened to upset you, or someone does something irritating, ‘…don’t ever forget that it is best to listen much, speak little, and not become angry; for anger doesn’t make us good’ (J.), and anger doesn’t bring about the results we want to see. I’m sure we’re all aware that when we’re upset, and angry, we tend to say and do things that are not always so excellent. I know I have to be careful in this area, and so I try to delay responding to an upsetting email for overnight to help myself calm down and ensure I respond calmly. We do have two ears vs. one mouth, so let’s use our listening more than our speaking.

  • Conviction: Idea #153

Are you familiar with conviction? ‘People who have conviction believe in something so passionately that they will not be persuaded to lose focus. Conviction is the driving force that keeps them on task. What are you doing in your life that is so important that nothing can cause you to lose focus?’ (J.Maxwell) Have you taken the time to think about what it is that you truly believe in, so much so that you refuse to lose focus, and you’re determined to keep on track with your goal? Let’s take a few minutes today to think about what we have a conviction about.

  • Living: Idea #152

Do you find yourself worrying about the future? ‘…Humans who are anxious about the future, forget the present, the result being that they do not live in the present nor the future; while living as if they will never die – they die as if they had never lived.’ (C.) What an unfortunate way to live a life, wouldn’t you agree? Of course we can do our best to plan for the future, however, we cannot control it, we can only have the strength and wisdom to live through it. And who knows, with good preparation it may very likely be even better than we imagine. So, will you journey with me and “live in the present”?
