• Solution: Idea #109

Is there anyone that doesn’t enjoy solving problems? I know I feel great whenever I solve something that I need to complete. ‘Persistence and variety. These are the two primary ways to develop great ideas or to solve important problems.’ (J.Clear) Sometimes the road to finding a solution seems long and slow, and sometimes I get stuck. I find that when I pause, and try a different approach, many times a better idea or solution pops out for me. So don’t give up, keep trying, and try new approaches – and you’ll find your success.

  • Compliment: Idea #108

Thank You for joining me on my daily learning journey – knowing you’re learning with me helps me feel motivated to keep this up. How does it make you feel when someone says something nice about you? ‘People want to feel special, so compliment them. In the first 30 seconds of meeting someone, say something positive about them, to them, and say it in front of their friends. Complimenting others is the best way to make others feel like they are special.’ (J.Maxwell) As you help others feel special, and are helping them see the positive impact they’re having on you, the feedback will be positive and the support you get from taking the first step are enormous and long-lasting.

  • Procrastination: Idea #107

Procrastination – who can claim to not be guilty of this from time to time? Here are a few strategies to help us break this bad habit. ‘Schedule your deep work. It’s easier to put off work that requires concentration. So build time in your daily calendar to focus…Learn to accept demanding work. Don’t make the mistake of equating easy work with productivity…Create a system for starting new tasks. You’ll be less likely to delay novel tasks if you have a system for approaching them…Use self-compassion. We tend to avoid tasks that stir up negative emotions…Tell yourself, “It’s normal to be disappointed in my past performance. I’m learning through experience.”’ (HBR) Wow!
