• Repetition: Idea #7

‘Building habits in the present helps you to do more of what you want in the future’. (J.Clear) In today’s culture we have so many things available “instantly” that we start expecting instant results whenever we try to implement an improvement plan. Development, and new habits, don’t happen overnight, or in a week. Changing ourselves takes time, commitment, and persistence. The new habit you’re working on needs to be relentlessly repeated day after day, even when it’s hard, even when you don’t see immediate results. However, when you look back after six months or a year – you WILL BE AMAZED at how much you’ve grown.

  • Understand: Idea #6

‘Seek first to understand, then to be understood’. (S.R.Covey) How often do we not understand why people do what they do, or act how they act? Why do we get frustrated when others don’t seem to understand our thinking? Perhaps it’s because we haven’t taken time to really listen to them, to hear and understand their thinking, before we label them as difficult or challenging. So today, think about the most challenging person you need to work with, and take time to deeply listen to what they have to say – BEFORE you start talking about what you need.

  • Amazing: Idea #5

‘Children are joyful and treat each day as a miracle—in part because they are continually surprised. Each day, they hear a new word or listen to a new song or learn about a new animal. It’s their first time visiting that restaurant or jumping in that pool or riding that rollercoaster. The world is continually unfolding before them. How can you introduce more surprise into your life as an adult? How can you renew your sense of childlike wonder?’ (J.Clear) From a professional point of view, what new skill or knowledge can you look into to help keep your day exciting and amazing?
