• Winning: Idea #472

I know myself well enough to know that I like to win. Always! ‘We all want to win and to be right, but we don’t always need to be in competition with others. We don’t influence others by impressing them about our own greatness, but by impressing upon them how wonderful they are. If you have the choice to be right or the choice to be kind, choose to be kind.’ (J.Maxwell) This is definitely a growth area for me, and I’m trying to remember that it doesn’t matter if I win but hurt others along the way, as in the long-term that’s a huge loss for me. Kindness trumps winning every day.

  • Perfection: Idea #471

One of my managers once told me – never wait for perfection before proceeding. ‘One of the greatest handicaps is to fear a mistake. You have stopped yourself. You have to move freely into the arena, not just to wait for the perfect situation, perfect moment… If you have to make a mistake, it’s better to make a mistake of action than one of inaction. If I had the opportunity again, I would take chances.’ (F.Fellini) Will some actions fail? Undoubtedly – but don’t let that stop you from trying again and again – you will grow through the process.

  • Health: Idea #470

My team has heard me state many times that we need to look after ourselves so we can look after others and our responsibilities (which includes family and work). However, this does not give us permission to be selfish and only focus on ourselves – to have a “me, me, me” attitude. In looking after ourselves, we ensure we have good health in four areas – physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. All four areas are interconnected, and if we have good health in those areas, we’ll be able to look after others both personally and professionally. And as we serve others, we’ll be able to fulfill our responsibilities with excellence, both personally and professionally. Join me in taking the small steps today that will result in a different you in 2 years, in 5 years, whatever the future timeline is that you’re working towards.
