• Long-term: Idea #563

True success requires a long-term view of life. Too many times we want instant growth, instant success, and sometimes that’s because we’re confused by what we REALLY want. ‘The chief cause of failure is substituting what you want most for what you want now.’ (Z.Ziglar) It can be hard to deny ourselves the quick win in favor of the long-term bigger prize, just remember, ‘A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.’ (J.Watkins) When we take the long view, and persist, that’s when we achieve big wins.

  • Modeling: Idea #562

Do you currently have a mentor? Are you having regular sessions? I know I have some improvements in this area of my life, especially if I want to acknowledge ‘the law of modeling. It says that it is hard to improve when you have no one but yourself to follow. Most of us grow because we saw someone else grow, develop, and progress. Get out and meet people who are able to show you a new path. Follow in the footsteps of a mentor or model.’ (J.Maxwell) Are you actively meeting new people? Are you asking questions that will help you grow and improve? I can vouch that doing so is highly beneficial.

  • Open: Idea #561

Quick question. Do you spend more time thinking about the future, or the past? ‘My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there.’ (C.Kettering) Have you ever thought of your work like that? So how can we achieve the future we want to have? ‘Whenever you want to achieve something, keep your eyes open, concentrate and make sure you know exactly what it is you want. No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.’ (P.Coelhe) Again, this thought points to the importance of having a plan, knowing the steps needed to get to our end goal. Let’s keep our eyes open, shall we?
