• Success #2: Idea #401

Continuing our review of what is needed to have success. ‘Success is sowing seeds that benefit others. Are you constantly, intentionally adding value to other people? Think of others. Be externally focused instead of internally focused. There is a reaping and harvest that will come back to you when you pour into others. Invest in yourself so you can invest in other people.’ (J.Maxwell) After we know our skills and purpose, we then use that to add value to others, not ourselves. This creates a cycle of planting and harvesting – what we invest in others will pay us back multiple times. That’s how we grow our success factor.

  • Success #1: Idea #400

Let’s have a closer look at success. ‘What is success? Success starts with understanding your purpose. You can’t know if you are succeeding in life, until you know why you are here. You can discover your purpose by thinking about your passions and strengths. What are you gifted in? What are you passionate about?’ (J.Maxwell) So to summarize, in order to be successful we need to start with what we like to do, and what we’re good at. Then using that knowledge we uncover our purpose in life, what are we here for? Once we understand that, then we’ll be successful.

  • Relationships: Idea #399

Sometimes we may not see the value in building professional relationships. ‘Relational leaders love connecting with others. It is important to slow down and connect with people even when it isn’t required or beneficial to your success. Find someone that you don’t have to connect with in order to be successful in your job, and take time to get to know them. When you do this, you begin to develop your muscle of connection and become better at connecting with the people you have been called to lead.’ (J.Maxwell) That’s a good tip if you want to develop yourself!
