• Matter: Idea #551

Do you ever get the negative thought that what you do doesn’t matter? That’s not correct! ‘What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make. (J.Goodall) Everything we do has an impact on others, whether for the good or the bad. ‘Each of us has a gift to share… none are insignificant… the gift of laughter, the gift of strength, the gift of love… let the light of your gift shine for all to see and feel… you never know who might need it.’ (M.Powell) See, we can all make a difference for others, so don’t let yourself be persuaded otherwise.

  • Ladder: Idea #550

Do you ever feel like you’ve maxed out on your personal growth? Maybe this is a reflection from ‘the law of the ladder. It says that character growth determines the height of personal growth. Ladders help you go higher than you can on your own. Character is the ladder of your life. When you have good character and are better on the inside, it will be evident in your actions.’ (J.Maxwell) Oops! Maybe we need to set aside some time to examine ourselves, our character, and what we’re doing to work on that part of our life. I know for myself it’s not fun to focus on this, as I tend to discover weaknesses that I would rather not see – but do join me in making the effort to do what it takes to grow.

  • Communication: Idea #549

We hear a lot about “good communication” and how important this is. So then, what actually IS good communication? First we need to remember that ‘Communication is about what is received, not what is intended. If there is a gap between what you are saying and what they are hearing, you have to find a new way to say it.’ (J.Clear) Too many times we think just because we’ve repeated instructions two or three times, people must understand. But no! We need to hear back from them what they believe you said, and then we can determine whether our communications were effective.
