• Reflection: Idea #554

I didn’t think it was possible, however life seems to get busier each year that goes by. And I guess if you think about time in its totality, our time is only a brief moment. So what can we do to ensure we don’t let the busy-ness keep us from growing? I believe we need to remember ‘the law of reflection. It says that learning to pause allows growth to catch up with you. Experience alone isn’t the best teacher, but reflecting on our experiences is what allows us to learn and grow. Reflection turns experience into insight.’ (J.Maxwell) Can we allow ourselves time to be quiet, to reflect, to ponder on what we’ve been experiencing and learning? It’s important that we do so if we truly want to improve.

  • Believe: Idea #553

It can be difficult to trust ourselves, to believe in ourselves, however, ‘You must have the courage to trust your instincts and be ready to question what other people don’t. If you do that, you can seize opportunities that others would miss. Believe in yourself, and use everything you can – including the obstacles – to propel you along the road to success. Who knows what you might achieve?’ (R.Branson) As we look to examples around the world, we see people that believed in themselves and what they could do, and we see the amazing results. That can also be you.

  • Environment: Idea #552

There’s a saying that you become like the people you spend time with. This echos ‘the law of environment. It says that growth thrives in conducive surroundings. Are you in a growth oriented organization? Develop your own personal growth environment. When you change your surroundings, you will discover that who you are with determines who you become, how you learn, and how you develop.’ (J.Maxwell) We may not realize how important it is to surround ourselves with people that support us, encourage us, and care for us. If we don’t, we’ll likely struggle to grow and improve. Let’s check our environment.
