• Character: Idea #485

Who are you – really? ‘Character is about who you really are – not who you show people you are. Character is who you are when no one is watching. Embrace the value of character over reputation. Image is too important in today’s culture. Character determines how you interact with people and what you are capable of accomplishing. The goal is for character to exceed your reputation. If you are bigger on the inside than on the outside, you will be a successful leader.’ (J.Maxwell) The thought to ponder on for today is: how big are you on the inside?

  • Encourage: Idea #484

I keep being reminded that there are many that help me and support me, and I should be grateful. ‘Gratitude helps you to grow and expand; gratitude brings joy and laughter into your life and into the lives of all those around you.’ (E.Caddy) Isn’t it amazing that gratitude helps you grow? However, we do need to remember that ‘As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.’ (J.Kennedy) Words are easier, action takes more effort. One way of showing gratitude is by encouraging others. ‘One word of encouragement can be enough to spark someone’s motivation to continue with a difficult challenge.’ (R.Bennett) How will you show gratitude via encouragement today?

  • Solving #7: Idea #483

Are you a glass half-empty or glass half-full type of person? ‘The seventh principle of problem solving is believing there is always an opportunity. All problems create opportunities when you have the right attitude. If you look at a problem correctly, there is always an answer, always a lesson, and always an opportunity.’ (J.Maxwell) There are always two sides of a coin, and probably 6 sides to a problem. The challenge is finding the opportunity side, because doing that will allow you to excel and grow through the problem.
