• Scheduling: Idea #301

Pay attention! ‘You can grab an opportunity when it comes at you, but you can’t grab hold of it after it has passed. This is a reminder of how to manage time. If you manage your time well, you can seize opportunities. The issue isn’t prioritizing your schedule, but scheduling your priorities, so you can seize the moments when they come.’ (J.Maxwell) It’s so easy to be occupied with the urgent things that take our attention that new opportunities slide right on past us before we notice. It requires active “attention paying” if we want to snag the best opportunities for ourselves. Let’s go!

  • Pivot: Idea #300

A few lessons from the creators of Slack (not their original product): ‘1: Embrace failure…2: Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater…3: Double-down on what’s working…Success rarely happens as planned… but if you’re willing to roll with the punches, learn as you go, and pivot when necessary, you’ll most certainly succeed.’ (E.Partaker) As I read those quotes, I’m challenged to never give up when my original idea doesn’t work out, or even fails completely. There are always lessons to be learned, aspects of the test that we can salvage and reuse, but only if we’re willing to change to what will work. Let’s pivot today!

  • Victor: Idea #299

Do you see yourself as a victim, or a victor? It’s much easier to play the victim, and blame others for problems we face, or successes not achieved. However, this is truly a choice. ‘Abandon the idea that you will forever be the victim of the things that have happened to you. Choose to be a victor.’ (S.A.Smith) I know I’ve faced situations and experienced events that weren’t fair, shouldn’t have happened, and were extremely difficult. However, I’ve decided I will NOT be a victim, I’ll be the victor over my challenges and show myself (and others) what is achievable. Won’t you join me?
